Learning the ropes in his new home.

When Amadaeus arrived he was just skin and bones after having been on
his own with his brother Motzart for what appeared to be months.
The pictures below are when he first arrived.  Above was after two months with us.

-Jack aka. Willie-

I just wanted you to see we finally got Jackson ready for 4H. My son Micah and our dog
Jackson got a blue in showmanship, red in rally, and reserve champion in obedience!  Way to go Jack!
Jackson is still afraid of strangers, hence the judges, but we are working on that.

-Donny (Don Juan)-

“Adopting a rescue dog is such a rewarding experience, and gives you so much unconditional love, joy, and happiness. I adopted Donny when I was still mourning the loss of my first rescue Pomeranian, and he helped to lessen the heartache, and keep me moving forward, cherishing new experiences and adventures together. There are so many shelter animals that deserve our love and attention, and for me, it was the right pup at the right time! Donny is now a service animal, and goes with me everywhere- on planes, to hotels, to restaurants. We are best buds. Thank you Christy for your love, dedication, and hard work in all you do at your rescue!”

-Goldie-

I was so touched to receive this letter from Goldie that I couldn't resist sharing it here.

Hi Christy,
It's Goldie.
Call me  I just wanted to check in and tell you thank you for all you have done for me!! Thank you for taking such good care of me while my new mommy could be found.  You've done a lot for me and I am VERY grateful!!

The first night was a bit tough because the treat or car ride upset my tummy and I got sick a few times Sad, but my new mommy was very patient and cleaned me all up.  When we got settled she even gave me a little rice to calm my tummy! Smile It worked!! I was all better after that!!

I love In lovemy new home! You were right, everything is great! There was no need for me to be afraid. I've perked my ears up several times, and have tried to bark when playing, but just a little throaty noise came out. I guess that's all I can do. She said that's okay.

I did have 1 accident, but that was my mommy's fault....she forgot to pick up the throw rug.  You warned her! It's all clean now, but for some reason she didn’t put it back on the floor.…I wonder why? Wink

Also, guess what? She even has little doggie steps I can use to get on her bed!!! I couldn’t believe it, I have my very own steps. She helped me learn how to use them, because I was a wee bit scared at first. I'm a pro at them already!!  Also, you won't believe what happened!! She let me sleep on her bed with her!! Really

She started getting my bed ready for me to stay in tomorrow, while she is at work.  I'm sure I'll like it when she's finished.  It's looking really comfy! She's got layers of cushy stuff in there!! Although, I think she has an ulterior motive for making it sooooo cushy…. She wants to keep me from going under her bed… Yep, I still like my private little places…

I met Jaxx. Cat face I guess he's pretty cool for a cat, but my bed is off limits for him!!! I'm sure mommy will warn him.

We've gone outside a lot today.Sun At first she didn't have a halter for me, so I got to go out without a leash.  Excited Also, I met Cookie, Julie, Bill, Larry, and Maureen today!  Mommy was right, they were all so very happy to meet me. I also met a really cute guy, but we don't know his name!! He bent down and pet me really, really good.  It made me so happy that I forgot myself and actually started to follow him!! Oops! Mommy nicely redirected me.  I guess I'm a old softy for a cute guy!!  luv2

Unfortunately, she got me a harness, so now I'm on a leash. Nope  I am doing much better on the leash!! Although it's okay, I much preferred it the other way. We got to go on lots of little walks today. I saw so many new things!!  It was really fun!  There are so many places to walk here!  She even told me there are miles of walking paths here surrounded by lush green plants, trees, and flowers too that we'll explore together!!  I’m so excited.  It’s going to be a wonderful adventure!! Island with palm tree

Well that's all for today! I think I'm getting tired, so I'm going to check out that bed she’s putting together for me. You know, experientially... Sleepy

She should be just about done.  Oh, she even had a toy here for me.  She promised me she’s going to teach me to play w/toys. She said that she knew an cat who didn’t learn how to play with toys until she was 9 years old.  (She had a rough life too!).  One day there were some young over and she saw them playing and thought it looked fun, so she started to play with them too. I think if a cat can do it, I can too!  Bunny

I'll keep you posted on how I'm doing, but don't you worry, I think I'm going to really like it here!!

Goodnight,
Goldie

-Tobias aka Toby-

-Echo-
Echo is a fun Pom/Sheltie mix who came here as his last chance from a Seattle shelter.  He will now live on a farm where he will have plenty of room to run and play.  With a young man who loves him and will help him to get past all of the traumas of his past..

-River and Phoenix-
River and Phoenix came to us as two very bonded sisters.  They lost their home due to the impacts of terminal cancer of their owner.
Thanks to the Scarpine family, who have seen the impacts of cancer first hand, for opening their home to these sweet girls.

Compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character; and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man.
